Railway Bridge

Comments (0)

THREE months in the building, the long awaited Whitebridge Lane railway footbridge in Stone, is almost complete. Such a pity that it is going to be out of bounds for so many people.

Due to the council’s objections to the original plans, which included ramps, problems will be experienced by mothers with prams, wheelchair users, cyclists, and anyone unable to negotiate the 50-plus steps.

Network Rail were willing to provide ramps as well as the steps, but thanks to the council these were removed from the plan. There was a suggestion that the ramps could be added later but I cannot see Network Rail returning to spend more money.
