ALLEYNE’S Academy, from Stone were victorious in the Stafford and Stone School Sports Partnership under-14 boys rugby tournament held last week.
The tournament held at Stafford Rugby Club saw Alleyne’s Academy, Walton High, Blessed William Howard High, Sir Graham Balfour and King Edward VI compete in a series of matches.
Alleyne’s proved to be strongest on the day winning the majority of their matches followed closely by a strong Walton High School squad.
The event is a series of competitions hosted by Stafford Rugby Club which take place at the start of each academic year.
Aside from the competition element, players who are not currently with a local club are given the opportunity to move into community sport.
Steve Glover, Partnership development manager said: “This was our second rugby tournament which was once again organised by Tom Williams from Walton High School.
“It was fantastic to see nearly 100 lads playing competitive rugby at one time.”
