The Facebook campaign we have been following over the past few months to get Altern 8 to the top of the charts for Christmas has culminated in a number 33 chart position for the Stafford rave duo.
22 years after its original release, the classic techno tune Activ-8 (Come With Me) climbed back into the top 40 after months of campaigning on social media. Although it didn't hit the top spot, the resurrection of the 1991 hit has provoked feelings of nostalgia for the glory days of the early 90s Stafford rave scene.
Campaigners commented on the Facebook page last night:
“#33 in the Xmas charts. Not bad for a 22 year old rave tune!”
As predicted, the festive top spot went to Skyscraper – the debut release from this year’s X Factor winner Sam Bailey. Stoke-on-Trent popstar Robbie Williams topped the album charts with his album Swings Both Ways.
We will be speaking to Mark Archer from the duo later today.
