Anger as Hixon firm gets planning go-ahead

CONTROVERSIAL plans for a Hixon company to create aa major new building and double its workforce will go ahead despite major objections from residents who dubbed planners a “disgrace”.

Stafford Borough Council’s planning committee yesterday gave outline permission for Air and Ground Aviation to build a storage and distribution centre for the world’s largest passenger airliner the Airbus A380 and the A400M, a military craft.

But a number of disgruntled residents, who had packed into the meeting at the Gatehouse Theatre, shouted out that the committee was a disgrace when the decision was made.

Some 412 objections from neighbours had been received along with 49 letters and a 27-name petition in support.

Hixon and Stowe by Chartley Parish Councils also objected.
