IS it the end of the road for Bobby Badger, the Stafford Rangers mascot?
While chatting to a local businessman recently the subject on Bobby came up, writes Rangers commercial manager Stuart Maun.
Bobby Badger has been our team mascot for some years and has been involved in many events, at the ground, in the town and with schools and fundraising events. It’s great to have a mascot, but the big question is, is it time for a change?
Bobby is getting a little old, tired looking and perhaps needs to be rejuvenated. Some children have even said he is a bit frightening to look at!
Initially we had chosen a badger due to our black and white colours. So if we were to change, do we stick with the black and white theme?
We could perhaps choose a panda, or a zebra, another badger or a cow, or should we look at something completely different and dress it in Boro’s black and white colours?
So here is the idea. I thought that we could run a competition in the hope that some of our younger supporters and Staffordians could get involved and have a say as to whether we should change our mascot and, if so, what it should be.
Therefore, I’m asking children to email me or post their thoughts as to whether we should make a change and to what, adding a name for their new mascot. It would be great if some drawings/ideas could be sent in.
Over the next few weeks we will review anything sent in. If we decide to change and your idea is implemented then you will be invited as a guest on the day the new mascot is launched at Marston Road.
Emails should be sent to Stuart.firstname.lastname@example.org or posted to Stuart Maun, Commercial Manager, Stafford Rangers FC, Marston Road, Stafford, ST16 3BX.
