A GOLF club near Stone is holding a special open day as part of a drive to encourage new golfers.
Barlaston Golf Club is hosting the event on Sunday, September 29, 12 noon- 5pm.
Free coaching will be available as part of the family fun day to mark the opening of the club’s Get into golf Academy and new practice facilities.
The club’s PGA professionals Frank Kidde and Darren Martin will be on hand to give top tips at the Meaford Road course.
Designed by Peter Alliss – the TV commentator and former Ryder Cup player – in 1977, the course was where European Tour star David Lynn cut his golfing teeth as a former club junior and he says the club still offers a warm welcome to those starting out in the sport.
“I have very fond memories of Barlaston and I owe an awful lot to the place,” says the player, who finished runner-up behind Rory McIlroy in the 2012 PGA Championship and now plays on the PGA Tour.
