STONE firsts drew level at the top of North Staffs and South Cheshire Premier Division A after recording an 18 run victory at Wood Lane.
The firsts were put into bat and were soon down to 4-1 with the dismissal of Luke Cheadle for a duck.
Opener James Dawson continued to bat throughout the middle order making 63 and was joined by David Womble (40) as the firsts reached 130-6.
However the bottom order struggled to get off the mark with only George Hawbrook making 13 and Stone were skittled out for 161 from 49 overs.
Top bowling figures were taken by Samiullah Khan 4-46 and Maz Shah 4- 21.
In reply, Wood Lane started their innings similarly to Stone with opener Daniel Brierly hitting 66 but he was only given support by Khan (37) as the home side fell to 121-7.
Similarly to the Stone innings the bottom order struggled and they fell 16 runs short of the target.
The win leaves the firsts level on points with leaders Leek going into the final weeks of the season only behind on aggregate.
Stone SP firsts’ promotion push suffered a heavy blow when they could only manage a winning draw against Wedgwood and Stanfields in the North Staffs and South Cheshire Division 3A.
SP were put into bat and stuttered to 26-2 before a 146-run partnership between Richard Whitehead (61) and Shafique Hussain (148no) before Whitehead was bowled out leaving Stone on 173-3.
Coming in to partner Hussain in the closing stages was Jason Revill who hit top after win 51 not out as they finished on 310-3 from their 55 overs.
Wedgwood started their reply well with openers Oliver Holland (52) and Steve Hewett (29) putting on 70 runs for the first wicket.
After falling to 78-2 Josh Calyton came in with a knock of 65, Stone could not bowl out thier opponents who finished on 195-7 from 55 overs.
Top bowling figures went to Aidan Schmid on 4-27.
Stone seconds recorded a comfortable home victory in their North Staffs and South Cheshire Premier Division B fixture against Cheadle.
The visitors were put into bat first and were skittled out within 25 overs with a score of only 53 with only openers Jonathan Clowes (10) and Jake Tanner (14) making double figures.
The seconds bowlers had a great afternoon with Harry Brundrett (4-9) top scoring and Oliver Perry (3-20) and Paul Minshall 2-19 also helping.
In reply, Stoke easily reached the target thanks to 16 extras, James Sutton (13) and Declan Wardell (17) meaning they reached 54-1 off ten overs.
Stone SP seconds played the reverse to their first team’s fixture against Wedgwood and Stanfields.
SP were put into bat first and built up a good total of 209-9 from 50 overs thanks to a century from Steve Young who was supported by a knock of 44 by Chris Lindop.
The home side hit 154-7 from their 50 overs in reply with only opener Mitchell Edwards (84) making a sizeable score.
Top bowling figures were recorded by Mickey Chandler on 3-28 but Stone had to settle for a winning draw.
