GREEN-FINGERED local residents have proved they're just wild about flowers in our garden competition for Stafford and Stone.

Some of the best of the blooming marvellous gardens in and around Stafford and Stone are showcased on the Newsletter's website in our Blooming Local garden competition, in partnership with the Stafford and Stone branch of Age UK.

The aim of the competition is to inspire readers in their own efforts to grow colourful and attractive gardens.

And now's your chance to vote to choose the winners by visiting our website and completing the online voting slip.

There are two competition categories - Best Residential Garden, which can be any front or back garden, patio or courtyard, and Best Community Garden, for community groups which have improved the appearance of their neighbourhood and involved local people in caring for where they live.

The garden with the most online votes in each category will be the outright winner and will receive a plaque and the prestigious title of Staffordshire Newsletter Best Garden 2014. The voting closes next Thursday, August 7.
