THE NATIONAL Institute of Health and Care Excellence (Nice) has suggested that doctors should be able to prescribe slimming classes for overweight patients. But what do Staffordshire County Show visitors think?

Tony Gray, 78, of Lichfield, said: "Definitely not, they should pay for themselves. And it should be the same for smokers and alcoholics."

Claire Myatt , 49, of Western Coyney, said: "Yes, because we could all do with losing weight."

Margaret Birtwhistle, 42, of Rugeley, said: "Yes, because I pay £5 every week to go on those scales. It should be free."
