A CAFÉ which has stood unused for years at a Stafford community centre will open its doors next week as a place for people of all ages to meet.
Holmcroft Youth and Community Centre, which has been running for 67 years in Newland Avenue, has been handed cash from Lloyds TSB, Virgin Trains and the Lottery’s Awards for All to revamp the old cafeteria and appoint a chef and kitchen staff.
And it will open for the first time on Wednesday and then continue to serve up hot and cold tasty treats every week from Monday to Friday between 9am and 2pm.
The centre provides a range of community support, including benefits and employment advice, computer tuition, a nursery and a club for the over 50s.
Sandra Jones, from the centre, said: “It is important for people to have a facility like this, especially in the winter months for those who struggle to get into town. It is there for everyone to use, just to pop in for a coffee or meet up with friends and there will be some lovely food on the menu.”
