A DRIVER who may have fallen ill at the wheel was hospitalised after a collision with his car and a bin lorry.
The man, aged in his thirties, suffered no injuries as a result of the crash but was taken to Stafford Hospital for medical treatment, after the incident in Stafford’s Queensville area.
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said the crash involved a refuse collection vehicle and a black Volkswagen Passat.
“The driver of the Passat was taken to hospital, but it was not thought to be life-threatening,” she said.
“There was a collision, but there is some indication that he possibly fell unwell at the wheel.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.05am to Queensville, to reports of a road traffic collision.
“One ambulance attended and took the driver to Stafford Hospital,” he said. “It looks like a medical incident involving the driver.”
