CHARLOTTE Shelley was crowned the 2013 Stafford Sunday Pool League ladies singles champion, at Kennys Sports Bar, Stafford.
She finished overall winner in a round-robin format, winning all her five matches.
Her nearest rivals were Kirsty Lawrence, Clair Maslin (2013 runner-up) and Lynda Simpson (last year’s champion) all with three wins in five.
It was Shelley’s second such title, having won the silverware in 2011. She experienced some close frames, claiming narrow 3-2 wins against her three closest challengers, especially Lawrence, who led Shelley 2-0 at one stage.
In the summer plate finals, at the Hop Pole, the host venue’s C team emerged 4-1 winners against Kennys Dogs.
The semi-finals stages saw Kennys Dogs defeat Metro Bar 4-1, while Hope Pole C edged through 4-3 against St Georges A.It was the second time in three years that Kennys Dogs had qualified for the final.
In the last four match against promoted division three side Metro Bar,Gavin Davies (two) and Lee Whitehouse an d Dave Richardson chalked up wins., while the sole reply was from Gaz Nicklin.
Hop Pole C reached their third consecutive summer league final with a hard fought 4-3 win over Stan Bent Team KO winners St Georges A.
On this occasion the Hop Pole were well served by Kev Brown (two), Alan Mason and Duncan Sunderland. Kev Plimmer, Mick Ferguson and Jason Armishaw replied for the St Georges.
In the final, Davies gave the Dogs a good start by winning the first frame but wins for Brown, Mason and two fine clearances by Simon Key saw the Hop Pole C take the trophy.
Sunderland, Baz Davies and Mick Addison made up the rest of the Hop Pole side. Representing Kennys Dogs were Davies, Whitehouse, Richardson, Adam Lilburne, Steve Bristow and Ivan Turner.
