RAIDERS stole more than £1,000 worth of stock after smashing their way into a village shop near Stafford.

The break-in at Sandon Village Stores on the A51 at Sandon happened overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, Staffordshire Police have said.

A spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 7.0am yesterday morning.

“An offender or offenders have smashed the front window to gain entry. Once inside they stole cigarettes and sandwiches, to the value of £1,030.

“Damage to the window was approximately £1,000.”

Anyone with information should call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 93 of December 18, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 111 555.
