Comedian Brian Conley heads to Stafford

ONE OF Britain's most revered comic entertainers will light up Stafford Gatehouse Theatre this month.

Expect comedy, sketches and even a bit of song as Brian Conley takes a retrospective, often hilarious journey through some of the highs of a career at the top on stage and screen.

Brian Conley's 40-year television career has seen him win multiple awards including a National Television Award for most popular television performer; star in the British Comedy Award-winning sitcom Time After; host one of the most-watched light entertainment programmes, The Brian Conley Show; present the Royal Variety Performance an incredible five times and appear as a performer a further six times.

He has also starred alongside Amanda Holden in the popular ITV sitcom The Grimleys; performed for an invited audience of celebrity guests on An Audience With; presented the National Lottery game show, We've Got Your Number; and most recently host quiz show Timeline, which is currently on air.

As well-known for his work on the stage, Brian debuted in musical theatre with the lead role in Me and My Girl before going on to cement his reputation with the Olivier Award-winning Jolson at the Victoria Palace Theatre, where his performance of Al Jolson also saw him secure a personal Olivier Award nomination.

He went on to win a TMA award for best musical performance for his role in the What's On Stage award-winning Music Man; star in the acclaimed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and in the Olivier Award-winning Hairspray. He also played Fagin in the stage version of Lionel Bart's Oliver!

He has recorded three albums (one with the London Philharmonic Orchestra), starred in multiple films, was asked to be the special guest on Bob Hope's last world tour and has appeared in more than 20 of the UK's biggest pantomime productions.

Brian Conley will be at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre on Wednesday, May 14, at 8pm and tickets are already limited so early booking is advised.
