TWO WIND turbines could be on the cards for a farm near Penkridge.

Urban Wind Ltd, based in Preston, has applied to South Staffordshire Council for permission to install two turbines at Lower Drayton Farm, Lower Drayton, on land to the east of the A449. The turbines, described by the company as small scale, would be 35m high including blade tip and have a 100Kw generating capacity.

A level of vegetation screening at the edges of the surrounding road network would reduce the visual prominence of turbines, the company said in its report to the council, and their proximity to local houses, to safeguard nearby residents from the "potentially intrusive effects of the installation, both visually and noise related," had been considered during an initial investigation of the site in early 2013.

But Penkridge parish councillors said at their Thursday meeting they would be objecting to the proposal.
