PROPOSALS to build eight houses will go before Stafford Borough Council plans next week.

The application, submitted by developer St Modwen, has been called in by Councillors Robert Stephens and Frank Finlay “for the committee to consider whether this proposal would have an impact on the neighbouring properties” and to consider potential highways, access and parking issues.”

Some 80 per cent of the Milford Road site is in the open countryside with the remainder being within the residential development boundary.

The council’s policy says new housing development is not acceptable unless it is essential for the operation of agriculture.

Officers have recommended the planning committee approve the application saying: “With regard to impact on the rural area this will be limited given that there is existing development immediately to the east of the site and to the south of the site, where existing development is within the main fabric of the built-up are of Stafford.”

The plans go before the committee on Wednesday.
