A COUPLE captured on CCTV are wanted for questioning over the theft of a women’s purse at Birmingham’s Moor Street station.

British Transport Police (BTP) issued the appeal for information along with a CCTV image of a man and woman they believe may have important information over the incident which took place at the end of November.

Investigating officer, PC Mark Gowanlock, said: “The victim dropped her purse when entering Birmingham Moor Street station.

“The purse was picked up by passengers who entered the station a short time later,” he said.

“However, at this stage, the purse does not appear to have been handed in to police or the Lost Property facility at the station."

After reviewing CCTV footage, officers have identified a man and woman they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

“We are keen to trace this couple as we believe they may have key information that could help our enquiries,” said PC Gowanlock.

Anyone with information can call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference WWA/B3 of December 27 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
