GOOSE herding, gurning and wife-selling are all set to wow bank holiday visitors at Shugborough’s Goose Fair on Monday.
Revivals of old English traditions such as apple bobbing, hooking-a-duck, and skittles will all take place at the Estate, as well as gurning - a competition to see who can pull the most contorted face.
The estate promises a day filled with good old-fashioned entertainment. The popular wife-selling event will return to the mansion - but wives will also be given the chance to get revenge by offering up husbands for a spell in the stocks.
Demonstrations of milling, cheese-making, butter-making, baking, spinning, weaving and rag-rugging will all take place throughout the weekend.
The holiday theme will continue right across the estate with quizzes, trails and other attractions for visitors.
