Double defensive blow for Rangers

STAFFORD Rangers have suffered a double defensive blow on the eve of Saturday's away league game at Matlock Town.

Ryan Dicker and Karl Espley, who both joined the Marston Road club last season, have left the club.

Both were dropped after the Boro could only take a point away to Evo Stik basement side Eastwood Town last weekend, after which boss Greg Clowes said that missed chances and poor defending had cost Rangers a victory.

Clowes brought in Liam Walshe and Luke George at the heart of the Rangers defence in the 2-2 home draw against Buxton on Tuesday night, a match that saw George dismissed for two bookable offences in the second half.

Rangers have drawn their last three league games and currently occupy 14th spot in the table. They have managed only one league win on their travels this season, at Worksop back in September, but have drawn six on the road.

Walshe and George are almost certain to continue in defence for Rangers at Matlock.

On Tuesday night (Dec 11), Rangers face another re-arranged home game against AFC Fylde (7.45pm).
