A CASUAL vacancy on Doxey Parish Council has been filled by a new member after former deputy chairman Nigel Barnett failed to attend for more than six months.
Councillor Neil Thomas told the Newsletter no-one had seen Councillor Barnett for more than a year.
Parish Council chairman David Adams said: “Following Nigel’s long stay in Germany, his term of office has now been terminated.”
A meeting of the council last week voted to co-opt Richard Whyman (pictured) to fill the vacant position.
Mr Whyman, who has lived in Doxey for almost eight years, works at Alstom as a supervisor, is a member of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and the Neighbourhood Watch, said he had seen the notice advertising the vacancy on the window of a local shop and decided to volunteer.
