ECCLESHALL AFC were celebrating on Saturday after reaching the semi-finals of the Leek Cup.

On Saturday they faced Wolstanton in round five and ran out 1-0 winners.

Eccleshall worked hard, and defensively restricted Wolstanton's notorious attackers to very few chances.

For long periods of the game, Eccleshall were the better side and Dan Jones missed a glorious chance to finish the tie in normal time but his header went wide of a post.

In extra time, Eccleshall's determination paid off when in the dying moments of the game Ed Bentley scored the only goal of the game with a shot that went in off the underside of the bar.

This Saturday, Eccleshall first team visit Irlam in the North West Counties league (3pm). Eccleshall AFC are at home to Cheadle Town (2.30pm) in the county league.

Both Eccleshall and Eccleshall AFC are without a game on Boxing Day and likewise on Saturday, December 28.
