ECCLESHALL are to hold a sportsman’s evening in April in aid of their injured player Matt Bradbury.
Bradbury sustained a serious injury in Eccleshall’s home match against Formby in November, dislocating an ankle and breaking both the tibia and fibula in his right leg. He needed a four-hour operation to repair the damage and is likely to be off work for at least four to five months. It is uncertain if he will play again.
The evening, on Saturday, April 5, is limited to 200 people and will be held at Knutton Ex-Servicemen’s Club, Knutton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, start 7.30pm. Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, the ex Southampton, Tottenham and Liverpool player and TV personality will be the guest speaker, supported by a comedian and compere.
An auction of sports memorabilia, together with a raffle will be held to help boost the funds. A pie and peas supper will also be included in the ticket price of £20.
Club chairman, Andy Mapperson, said: “Whilst Matt will be receiving the club insurance payment during his time off work, this represents only a small part of what he was earning.
“He has a wife and three young children to support and we felt we needed to do something to support him through this difficult time. All money raised will be donated to Matt.”
Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis and colleagues from other clubs in the league will be welcome”.
