Eccleshall crash: van driver cut free after van overturns

A driver had to be cut free from the wreckage after his van overturned on the B5026 Chester Road in Eccleshall this lunchtime, Wednesday June 11.

Fire crews from Stone and Gnosall were called out to the accident, which happened shortly after 1.30pm, near the junction with Kerry Lane. The found the light commercial van on its side, and stabilised the vehicle before cutting the driver free.

An West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the driver was conscious but suffering from back, leg and neck pain, and was being taken to hospital. An ambulance and a community first responder were at the scene.

The road was blocked in both directions by the crash and the police were directing traffic.
