ORGANISERS of an annual village show have vowed not to be beaten by yobs who smashed up their signs.
Two signs advertising Eccleshall Show, which takes place on September 1, have been damaged on the main road between Stafford and Eccleshall.
Ed Lambert from the Eccleshall Show Society said: “Most events face obstacles of some description and we certainly will not let this dampen our spirits as we have a very exciting show to look forward to. But it will reduce the amount of money we can donate to charity.
“The show is organised by a team of volunteers and donates its profits to various charities. Publicity is an expensive commodity, but without it nobody knows the event is on.
“We invested in a number of new signs this year. The ones damaged cost £25 each and we can only estimate the negative impact it has on spreading the word about the show.”
This year’s show is the 65th and will be held at The Parks in Sugnall. A free shuttle bus service is running from Eccleshall.
Show attractions will include Black Rock Llama Display Team, Stone’s Fli Hi Hip Hop Crew, a larger classic vehicle display than last year and a companion dog show. The equestrian section includes the Midlands Championships of the Retraining of Racehorses classes.
