ECCLESHALL suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat in their FA Vase clash against in form Midland Alliance side Alvechurch thanks to a series of second half defensive errors.
Dean Sibson’s men opened well and had the first chance of the game which fell to Mark Hall but his shot went wide.
Alvechurch took the lead on 14 minutes when a corner by Craig Gill was headed home by Scott Smith.
The home side nearly double their lead minutes later but were stopped by goalkeeper Dave Dyson with a great save from Max Loveridge, on the edge of the six yard box.
Eccleshall responded with Brad Cooper setting up Tom Laroso but he fired wide and they were caught on the break with Loveridge involved again, setting up Joe Wright with a chance but he also missed the target.
The Pershall Park side equalised after 39 minutes when they were awarded a free kick just outside the box, Anthony Marshall curled the ball round the wall and into the top corner to take them into half-time level.
In the second half, the Eagles went behind on 52 minutes when Josef Holtham hit the ball home following consistent pressure by the hosts.
Eccleshall were trying to respond but were falling short of the mark with Laroso looking like their only chance of recovery but even he failed to find the target.
Alvechurch went 3-0 ahead on 67 minutes when a short back pass to Dyson never reached him as he came out and Loveridge latched on to the loose ball to round Dyson and cross for Joe Wright to head home which looked offside but the goal was given.
After another diving save the hosts got their fourth on 81 minutes after allowing Joe Wright to run through the defence unchallenged and place his shot into the far corner of the net.
Dean Sibson’s men had a few chances on goal late on with Dan Colclough firing just wide and were unlucky when Tom Swann fired his shot over keeper Liam Maher but saw it cleared off the line by Guy Clarke, with a diving header.
Dyson again kept the score down in the closing moments with another diving save, Jamie Spencer being thwarted this time as Eccleshall fell to their fourth straight defeat and out of the FA Vase.
In the Staffs County Senior League Eccleshall fell to a 4-3 defeat at Kidsgrove Athletic.
The hosts opened the scoring after 18 minutes through Dave Shaw before Jordan Alcock equalised for the visitors on 33 minutes.
Joe Grant then put Kidsgrove 2-1 ahead on 39 minutes and the lead was doubled when Shaw scored his second on 52 minutes to put them 3-1 up.
AFC bounced back first with a second from Alcock after 73 minutes and then an equaliser after 84 minutes from Jimmy Wildman bought the scores level and looked to have secured them a point.
However Spencer Byatt scored the winner for the hosts after 86 minutes to send Eccleshall home empty handed.
This Saturday, Eccleshall are at home to Daisy Hill in the North West Counties with a 3.00pm kick off and Eccleshall AFC are away to Florence in the Staffs County Senior League with a 2.30pm kick off.
