CRICKET AGM: Eccleshall Cricket Club held their Annual General Meeting on Friday January 3 in the New Pavilion. Chairman, Chris Marshall reflected on a hugely successful year for the Club in his report. All of the Club's Officers were re-elected and Myles Coughlan is 1st XI Captain for a second year. After 9 years in the role, Tony Mansfield stood down as 2nd XI Captain and the "dream" team of Paul Cox and Jake Derry were elected as Captain and Vice-Captain respectively.

Extract from Chairman's report

"2013 was an important year in the Club’s history. On the field the Club fielded probably its strongest 1st XI ever and this led to winning Div 3a and being the only side to remain unbeaten throughout the NSSCPL. The 2nd XI was strengthened and finished 3rd their division; the 2s most creditable performance for some years. The Club took the decision to enter a Sunday XI into the Stone League and after a couple of early setbacks finished mid table. It was a great year to watch cricket and I was very proud of all the players that represented ECC in 2013.

Off the field, the Club built a new pavilion. c£300,000 has been spent on delivering the most modern pavilion in the League. Steve Lightfoot and Chris Marshall project managed the fundraising and building of the pavilion and have been very pleased with the reaction of everyone who has now seen the building. A number of functions have been held at the Club including wakes, parties, christenings and , recently, the Young Farmers Xmas Dinner"

Indoor Cricket Nets start on Sunday February 9 1pm-3pm and run through to March 30 and are to be held at Sandon Business & Enterprise College, Sandon Road, Meir, Stoke-on-Trent. This is the first time that the Club has had 8 weeks of indoor nets but it is important that we prepare properly for the 2014 Season.
