A STONE schoolboy has been inspired to consider firefighting after coming to the aid of fellow villagers.
Reece Felgate, 11, pictured, was walking through Oulton with friend Billy Palmer, 15, when the pair discovered a fire in the Oulton Abbey car park.
They kept other onlookers away from the danger and alerted the Fire Service, who arrived within minutes to tackle the blaze, which had spread to trees and a telegraph pole.
Christchurch Academy pupil Reece, of Church Lane, Oulton, said: "It was terrifying because the fire flared up right in front of us."
But he added that the experience had made him think about becoming a firefighter when he is older.
Reece and Billy were praised for their swift actions by Oulton resident Lol Barnes last week.
