Places for the 2014 Stafford Half Marathon are now sold out.

The Stafford Borough Council promotion will be celebrating its 30th year in March, having first been staged in 1984 when the start and finish was at the County Showground.

This year's race takes place on Sunday March 16, and will start in Stafford Street (town centre) at 10am. Race packs will be sent out early March.

The route will head off from the town centre, past the new Staffordshire Newsletter office in Mill Bank, before heading into Stafford's surrounding countryside on traffic-controlled roads.

Runners will face two steady climbs, at Radford Bank and Tixall, before returning to the Market Square through Victoria Park.

Each participant will be rewarded with a specially commissioned medal along with a technical t-shirt. There are also prizes given for open and veteran categories.

Local community groups, bands, school children and anyone else are encouraged to get involved and offer support to the runners along the course.

Incorporated in the half marathon event is the very popular School and Family Fun Run in the town centre, with runners invited to compete in fancy dress. See Stafford Borough Council website for entry details.
