OVER 250 runners, both experienced and novice, are already in training for next month’s Katharine House Hospice 10k run and 2k fun run.
This popular event returns to Shugborough on October 6, and event fundraiser James Lunney said: “This year’s run will be better than ever and we would urge supporters to register their place as soon as possible with just over a week left until the event.
“We hope that runners will enjoy the improvements we have for 2013. We are truly inspired by the support we receive as a local charity caring for people with progressive illnesses.
“This year, due to popular demand, we’ve decided to include another 2k fun run and continue the superhero fancy dress theme on the fun run – but this is purely optional!”
The 10k run, which is a perfect event for novice runners and seasoned runners alike, is part of a busy
events schedule for the Hospice which needs to raise £2.6m per year to provide free services to local people and their carers.
Stafford Harriers running club have offered their expertise in the organisation of the event to ensure a great run for runners of all abilities, whilst Stafford Railway Building Society (SRBS) are sponsors for a fourth year.
“Runners can help us by registering for the event at £10 (or £5 for the fun run). We are extremely grateful for the sponsorship support from individual runners as this really makes a difference to the Hospice,” said Lunney.
Last year’s run saw over 500 people taking part in both the 10k and fun runs and the event raised over £16,500 for the Hospice, thanks to the individual sponsorship and support of SRBS.
