FORMER Wolves striker Andy Mutch has taken on the caretaker manager’s role at Stafford Rangers.
The 49-year-old takes charge of Rangers league game at home to Marine on Tuesday night, following the sacking of Greg Clowes, his assistant Doz Garner and coach Mick Hathaway on Sunday.
Mutch, who has managed Vauxhall Motors, Burscough and more recently Northwich Victoria, netted 96 goals in 289 appearances for Wolves in the late eighties and nineties.
He has been out of football management since last November when he quit the struggling Vics.
Liverpool-born Mutch is believed to be interested in the Rangers job on a permanent basis, but has agreed to take over in a caretaker capacity for Rangers’ forthcoming matches.
After the game against Marine, the Boro head to Chasetown for an FA Cup first qualifying round tie on Staurday (3pm).
