July Showers

There has been so much rain recently but brave Lottie has been out and about in it to try and find some people with street style. Here she analyses their outfits and what inspired them and tells you how to wear your outfit with style!

Matt, 34, Solicitor from Stafford

Matt's favourite shop is H&M

With a clear nod to the catwalk’s trend of off duty formal wear, Matt effortlessly demonstrates weekend city chic through combining his stonewash jeans and scooped neck tee with a suit jacket. Sticking with earthy tones keeps the look classy whilst Matt’s crumpled jacket, possibly inspired by the Diesel Spring/Summer catwalk, helps ease the combination of smart and casual.

On the left is Becky, 36, Probation Officer from Manchester and to the right is Kate, 35, Interior Designer/Mother from Stafford

Becky's favouite place to shop is Topshop and her style icon is coincidentally Kate Moss but Kate loves Urban Outfitters and thinks Debbie Harry has great style

Despite the July showers, these ladies’ outfits remind us that it’s summer. The pretty femininity of the lace detail on Becky and Kate’s cream tops ensures that they aren’t emasculated by their jeans. The fun and flirty detailing of Becky’s floral jeans complements her coral flip flops creating the perfect outfit for a British summer. Kate’s gilt edge, her gold bangle and jewelled sandals, adds a touch of glamour to her outfit and demonstrates a look that can be easily transformed from day to night.

Molly, 18, Student from Stafford

Molly's favouite place to shop is New Look and her style icon is Fearne Cotton

As I know far too well, being a student like Molly, fashion is an expensive passion. Purchasing a designer item is something that takes a lot of saving, so looking to the high street for similar patterns and cuts is often the best idea. Molly’s take on double denim was a key feature in many of the spring/summer shows, which she succeeds in pulling off by combining a lighter shade of denim jacket with a flattering pair of deep blue skinnies.  The iconic crucifix detailing on her vest has been a popular motif across the high street, preventing her outfit from appearing bland.
