A NEW H&M fashion store will move into Stafford’s new Riverside shopping development.
Developer LXB has announced the popular fashion retailer, which sells men’s, women’s and children clothes, will join the flagship Marks Spencer and Debenhams at the site.
A six-screen cinema, run by a yet-to-be-revealed cinema chain, will also be created on the site of the old Chicago Rock café, with a riverside shop or restaurant adjoining it. Improvements will be made to the existing footbridge over the River Sow.
The plans will go on display on February 21 in the old Express & Star office in Bridge Street.
The shopping centre will be created on the site of the old Riverside Recreation Centre, which was flattened and replaced with a car park, while a new car park will be on the site of the old Bridge Street multi-storey car park, currently being demolished.
LXB is also creating a new Morrisons supermarket on the Kingsmead long stay car park.
The public exhibition will be open from 12-7pm and all residents are urged to go along to take a look, talk to developers and have their say.
Council leader Mike Heenan said: “Stafford is one of the very few areas of the country where major town centre redevelopment is taking place. It is excellent to see the progress on the old Bridge Street Car Park. And I would urge anyone interested in these exciting plans to go to this exhibition and take the opportunity to talk to the developers.”
