STONE residents can look forward to a freeze in their town council tax this year.

Stone Town Council has voted to keep the town precept at the same rate - £236,038 - for the third year running.

This means Band D households will pay £40.09 for town council services for 2014-15.

Speaking today Councillor Philip Jones, leader of the council’s controlling Conservative group, said: “It hasn’t been increased since we took over the council in 2011 and Stafford Borough Council are reducing their precept by two per cent.”
