A VILLAGE green near Stafford is going back to its roots this weekend with fun for all the family.
A three-day fun fair opens at 3pm this afternoon on Gnosall’s village green, next to the doctors’ surgery.
It is the first public event to be held on the green since it was donated to Gnosall Parish Council in 2012, but it is not the first time the green has hosted a fair.
The parish council said: “This piece of land was used for fairs many years ago, so it is great to resurrect a former popular event that we hope will be a huge success.”
Tonight the fair will be open until 9pm. Tomorrow it runs from 1pm to 9pm and Sunday 1pm to 6pm.
Tomorrow the council will also host a fun day at another of its open spaces – The Acres on Brookhouse Road.
From 11am to 3pm there will be a host of family attractions, including a football skills event with Wolves FC, wildlife activities, inflatable assault course and Skills Stadia, sponsored by Staffordshire Fire Service.
The fun day has also been supported by South Staffordshire College and county councillor Mark Winnington, through the Staffordshire County Councillor Community Fund.
