A GROUP of cyclists are hoping to pedal a fund-raising total on a Mountain Mayhem to help older people in Stafford get out and about.
The intrepid cyclists will take on the world’s largest 24-hour mountain bike endurance event on June 21 to pull in pounds for Age UK Stafford and District.
Tom Wilson, 31, Cassie Oddy, 34, Neil McDermott, 33, Chris Bailey, 31, and James Pittendreigh, 32, have been in training for weeks for the event, which will be at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire.
Tom Wilson came up with the idea as his partner Gemma Montgomery works at Age Concern.
They are hoping to raise as much money as they can and are urging anyone who would like to sponsor them to donate.
Alison Montgomery, chief executive of Age UK Stafford and District, said: “The group are raising funds for Age UK Stafford & District to provide stimulating and therapeutic activities for individuals with dementia and complex needs attending the day centre at Bradbury House.
“It is often hard for us to raise money so we are really pleased that the team are fund-raising for Age UK.”
Donations can be made at Bradbury House on the Weston Road or by texting AUSD14 with the amount of donation to 70070.
