KINGFISHER Gems took the honours in a fast moving Stafford Netball League division one clash against Spittal Brook, running out 39-16 victors.
Gems displayed some excellent passing into the circle, while Brook struggled to get into the game and could not stem the flow of goals at the Gems end and trailed 24-9 at half time.
The second half began quite evenly, with Brook finally shooting well and showing some good defensive play, but it was too little too late as Gems kept up the pressure, running out clear winners. Player of the match honours went to Becky Harvey for Brook and Becky Adams (Gems).
The other match in the top flight was between Diamonds and Stafford Ladies, which saw some great defending by both teams, particularly Lisa Deakin for Diamonds.
The pace increased in the second quarter, but Ladies began to pull away thanks to great shooting. The Ladies displayed some great passing skills and emerged 40-18 victors. Nicola Brown excelled for Ladies, and Illda Butt for Diamonds.
In division two, Emeralds and Deevas ended all square 21-21. Both teams worked hard in mid-court and effective defending by Brooke Humphries and Lara Rourke prevented Deevas taking the lead.
Antonia Hall excelled for Satellites who defeated Bluebelles B, 35-18. Saints got the better of Rubies 33-20, with player awards going to Claire Curran (Saints) and Chelsea Cole (Rubies).
