Gnosall and Church Eaton - week beginning May 15

ST LAWRENCE CHURCH NEWS: This Sunday the services will be Holy Communion at 7.45am with family Communion at 10.30am and a parish lunch after. At 6.30pm there will be a service of rest and reflection. On Tuesday there will be an Open coffee morning at Impstones from 10am until 12 noon.

METHODIST NEWS: This Sunday’s service will be led by J. Timmis.

PHOENIX CLUB: There will be Tai Chi in the Main Hall from 1.45pm until 3pm today. The club morning will take place as usual tomorrow from 10am until 12 noon. On Monday there will be crown green bowling at Newport from 10am until 12 noon and table tennis in the Brearley Room from 2pm until 4.30pm. On Tuesday there will be a trip to Carsington Water and Kedleston Hall.

MOBILE LIBRARY: The mobile library will be at Wharf Road today from 3.30pm until 4.10pm and at the Grosvenor Centre from 4.15pm until 5pm.

ARTS FESTIVAL: An Arts Festival is being held in memory of local artist Jacqui Talbot at the Moreton Millennium Centre on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May from 10am until 5pm. Admission is free and original paintings, sculpture, photography, glassware etc. can be bought and enjoyed. Guest artist Penny Eccleston will be joined by other artists.

GARDENING CLUB: On Tuesday the Moreton and Bromstead Gardening Club are holding a talk at 7.30pm by Richard Bifield titled “Best of Shropshire”. There will also be refreshments followed by a quiz and a raffle.

HEALTHY WALK: A shorter walk will be leaving from Haughton old railway station car park at 10.30am. For more info contact Thereza Forrester on 01785 822220.

LIVE MUSIC: Live Music at The Royal Oak Gnosall, tomorrow sees the return of Amber Lizzard, one of Shropshire’s top cover bands. This is sure to be one of the busiest Live Music nights this year, so be sure to get down early. Free Admission, start time approximately 8.30pm until late with Hoggy’s Hot Mixes in support.


ST EDITHA'S CHURCH: On Sunday there is holy communion at 8am with the rector. The twenty is plenty service for children and their parents is on Tuesday at 3.30pm.

INSTITUTE: Last week's coffee morning raised £152 for the institute's improvement of facilities project. The next coffee morning is 12th June with a sale of garden plants.

Zumba continues on Tuesday at 6pm and on Wednesday at 7pm the Church Eaton and District Dog Society has its weekly training class.

SCHOOL: Unfortunately the walking bus is ‘out of service’ until further notice as there is a shortage of volunteers. If you would like to become a ‘new driver’ please contact the school office.

The following children gained last week’s award for kindness:

Ben Wharton and Lola Corcoran (class 1); Lily Allen and Tyler Harris (class 2) and Owen Neish and Ellie Whittick (class 3).

VILLAGE CHOIR: There is a practice in the church at 8pm on Wednesday. New members always welcome – contact Daphne on 823958.

MOBILE LIBRARY: The library van will be parked by the post box 2.45pm until 3.45pm tomorrow. The next visit is on 6th June.
