A NEWLY formed rounders team in Stafford has made a winning start. Stafford Jets started their new season with a victory over the Stafford Misfits.
The two teams came together at Stafford Grammar School and played the very first fixture of the season in front of a large crowd of supporters.
The first innings saw both teams evenly matched but at the half-way stage, captain of the Jets, Kathy Dyer, used her experience and changed the format of the team and they raced away finally winning 31 rounders to 18. Top scorers for Jets were, Tarn Grigg and Dyer.
Founder of Stafford Rounders Club, Laura Colclough said: “I am extremely proud of Stafford Jets Rounders team, they have worked hard in training and their efforts have paid off.”
Training is every Wednesday evening between 7-8pm at Stafford Grammar School with newcomers still welcome.
