YOUNG Stafford amateur boxer Lucy Sarsfield chalked up an excellent win on the road at Bournemouth this week.
The 2013/14 ABA National 58kg class 2 champion, and a student at Weston Road Academy faced Chloe Le Page of Weymouth ABC, herself a former National ABAE champion and winner of six of her previous eight contests.
However Le Page found the Right Stuff ABC boxer just too hot to handle. Sarsfield came out quickly and never allowing the Weymouth girl to settle, scoring repeatedly with stiff jabs and follow-up back hands. In round two, Sarsfield turned up the heat on her opponent, throwing combinations of three and four shots repeatedly.
By the start of round three, Sarsfield was in total control and a huge rear hook eventually led to her claiming a unanimous points win, her third on the trot this season.
Sarsfield's next bout is at Shrewsbury on February 28 against another current the 54 kg National ABAE champion Tysie Gallager of St Albans ABC. Coach Andy Whitehall said: "That was a great win and the best Lucy has boxed to date. Winning the National title has given her new confidence, her goal is now to work towards boxing for England."
