A YOUNG gymnastics trio returned home proud bronze medal winners from the Regional Championships at Wednesbury.

They were representing the Stafford and Stone School Sport Partnership (SSSSP) club, along with 15 other members, many of whom were taking part in their first competition.

The gymnasts held their own against strong opposition and all performed clean routines with confidence.

A group of three, Alys Moindrot, Cara Brown and Phoebe Reynolds held off the nerves and performed an excellent routine to earn bronze in the grade 2 group competition.

Another grade 2 group of Evie Whyte, Taylor Logan –James and Ciara Bance narrowly missed out on medals finishing in fourth place.

SSSSP gym club is a newly- established British Gymnastics affiliated club.

Sessions operate throughout the district in Stafford and Stone and new members are welcomed. For further information call Steve Glover on 07793 891029.

Six schools took part in the final set of matches and SSC and Alleyne’s (Stone) finished on the same number of points. The Sports College gained the title on count back on number of individual wins.

In another close affair, Walton High were third and Blessed William Howard fourth, both teams having finished with the same points.
