THERE was a major surprise when Brocton Hall Golf Club hosted its annual junior captain’s day competition.
Causing a major upset was ten-year-old Hannah Golding, who emerged the golden girl with a net score of 62, playing off 36.
After a recent medal event she moved from the blue tees to the red and proceeded to win her first competition off the red tees.
She is the youngest player to win the junior captain’s shield which has been contested since 1989.
Her score reduces her Council of National Golf Union’s handicap by 3.5 to 32.5.
Junor captain Liam Rowe’s special day was well attended and last year’s junior champion Harry Flowers continued his winning ways.
He emerged victor of the Brocton Golfer Trophy for the best gross score, returning a 78.
Junior medal results: Div A, 1 Jake Sheldon net 70, 2 Jodie Flowers 77; Div B, 1 Hannah Golding 64, Ethan Evans 68.
