MYSTERY surrounds a visit to Stafford today by Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt.
While a spokesman for the health secretary confirmed Mr Hunt was coming to the county town, she remained tight-lipped over the purpose of the ‘private meetings’ he had scheduled throughout the day.
She said it was not unusual for Mr Hunt to visit hospitals and not publicly explain the nature of the meetings held with staff and management.
Pressed on whether or not he would be visiting local campaign group Cure the NHS, Mr Hunt declined to comment.
A spokesman for Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust confirmed the health secretary would be holding private meetings at the trust during the day.
