Four people were taken to hospital late last night after a serious house fire in Heath Hayes, near Cannock.
Fire crews from Cannock and Chase Terrace arrived just after 10pm at the house in Cromwell Road to find the property "well alight", a Staffordshire fire service spokeswoman said.
One man was rescued from the house and treated at the scene with oxygen therapy for smoke inhalation. An elderly man, a woman and a child were also treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.
Two ambulances were called out, and all four people were taken to Walsall Manor Hospital. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said one man had suffered burns to his face. The other three people were taken for hospital checks as a precaution.
Fire crews remained at the scene until the early hours of the morning.
