Buttler set to replace Kieswetter

Jos Buttler looks certain to replace Somerset colleague Craig Kieswetter as England's one-day wicketkeeper for the next one-day international against India on Wednesday.

Despite being the first-choice gloveman since the 2011 World Cup, Kieswetter's position has been under debate for some time and a duck in the third one-day international against India last time out appears to have been the final straw.

Kieswetter has batted 12 times since the start of 2012, making no half-centuries and averaging 30.62, while he has yet to fully convince since being moved into the middle-order. County team-mate Buttler is his deputy in the absence of the unavailable Jonny Bairstow and on the eve of the fourth ODI, the 22-year-old was put through an extensive keeping drill.

The England session ended with Buttler donning the gloves in catching practice alongside slips Alastair Cook and James Tredwell. Buttler played as a specialist batsman in his only previous one-day appearance but was selected behind the stumps for the two Twenty20 matches against India before Christmas.

Tredwell admits changing wicketkeeper mid-series is not the ideal scenario but is confident in Buttler's ability, should he get the nod.

"I guess as a bowler you do like to have a relationship (with the keeper), that's great, but unfortunately in the cut and thrust of sport you don't often get to do it like that," said the spinner.

"Teams do chop and change. We'll see what happens.

"Jos is a talented boy. I've not seen a lot of him keeping but I've seen him with the bat. I imagine if he's got anywhere near the talent with the gloves that he does with the bat he'll be fine."

The match in Mohali is a must-win for the tourists, who are 2-1 down with two games remaining in the Airtel Series.

Concerns over Steven Finn's fitness appear to have faded. He was struck on the finger in the nets on Monday but was back on Tuesday and is expected to be available.
