Hit-run: Threats to innocent man
Vigilantes have threatened to murder the children of a man wrongly named as the van driver who mowed down 14 people in a hit-and-run rampage.
Jason Clowes, 32, was rapidly named online in the aftermath of the harrowing events in Cardiff, South Wales, last Friday.
The innocent father-of-two was fishing with a friend when he heard he was being named as the man responsible for the devastation.
Karina Menzies was killed during the 30 minutes of mayhem which was spread over three miles in the Ely and Leckwith areas of Cardiff.
She was one of 14 pedestrians, half of them children, hit by the van which allegedly mounted kerbs deliberately to target parents and young children returning home from school.
The name Jason Clowes rapidly appeared on Facebook and Twitter within a short time of the attack, claiming he was the van driver.
His family assume he was wrongly named because he drives a white van and lives in Ely, not far from where the attack happened.
His mother hit out at the damage internet gossip can do, while Mr Clowes revealed that he knows the person who originated it.
He also thanked his community for setting up an "amazing" Facebook page apologising to him for what had happened.
"I just had people sending me threats saying they were going to kill my kids," Mr Clowes told MediaWales.
