Man charged with murdering his wife
A 25-year-old man has been charged with stabbing to death his wife, who has been described by her grieving family as a "ray of sunshine".
Ty Medland, of Cavell Avenue, Peacehaven, East Sussex, will appear before magistrates in Brighton accused of murdering Samantha Medland, 24.
A post-mortem examination found she died from multiple stab wounds after being admitted to hospital following the incident in Queen Square, Brighton, at around 8.45pm on Sunday.
Paying tribute to Mrs Medland, her mother Amelia Shah said: "My daughter Sam was always a ray of sunshine to those she met.
"Her untimely death has touched so many people, including medical staff who tried to save her life." Mrs Medland leaves behind her parents, sisters, brother and a niece and nephew.
Ms Shah added: "She will be greatly missed by us all. We would now like to be left to grieve our loss in peace."
Police thanked the public for their help with the inquiry, codenamed Operation Westfield.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Preston, of the Surrey and Sussex major crime team, said: "Our thoughts are with the family of Sam as they try to come to terms with her death."
