Police investigating death of model
Police are investigating the death of a young woman who plunged nine floors to her death from an apartment balcony.
The 23-year-old, named in reports as model Laura Pahomova, was found dead on Sunday morning following the incident at the Light Boutique Aparthotel in Manchester.
It is believed that a number of people who had travelled to the city for the Labour Party's annual conference were staying at the complex.
Greater Manchester Police said they had launched an investigation into the incident but did not believe her death to be suspicious.
A force spokesman said: "On September 30 at 11.40am emergency services were called to a block of flats in Joiner Street, Piccadilly Gardens, following reports a woman had fallen from her balcony.
"Officers attended and found a 23-year-old woman had fallen from a balcony several floors up and landed on another balcony nine floors below."
The police spokesman added: "She suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
"Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death."
Ms Pahomova came to the UK from Latvia several years ago to study and lived in Blackburn, according to reports.
It is said she had rented out one of the apartments at The Light Boutique, which has 55 serviced apartments, located between floors six and 14, and several penthouse apartments.
