HORNS (Gnosall) pushed LSC at the Tavern all the way in the Newport and District Pool League last week.

The outcome was a close 4-2 success for the new pacesetters, who head the pack on games difference only from Pheasant A.

LSC took a commanding lead through Greg Heathcote, John Williams, Andy Lewis and Any Heathcote in the singles, before the Horns struck back in the doubles, with Martin Holford clearing well in rack six for the Gnosall side.

Junction B (Norbury) shared the spoils for a fifth time this term, drawing 3-3 at home to high riding Stag Market Drayton.

It was a good performance by Junction B against a Stag team who were occupying top spot going into the match but have now slipped to third place.

Navigation (Gnosall) shared the glory in the singles against visiting King's Head A, who went on to take both doubles and the victory.

Other results: Newport Legion 2 Pheasant A 4, Pheasant B 4 Wheatsheaf 2, Royal Naval Club Veterans 4 Railway Tavern 2, KIng's Head B 2 Shakespeare A 4, Shakespeare B 0 Royal Naval Club Seals 6.
