HUMAN bones dug up in a Stafford back garden yesterday are thought to be of medieval origin, say Staffordshire Police.
Officers were called to a house in Lichfield Road, Stafford, early yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, after builders discovered the human remains in a back garden.
A spokesman for the police said the bones were ‘sensitively removed’ by forensic officers and photographed so detectives could get urgent expert advice from specialists on how long they had been in the ground.
“Early indications are that they are very old, possibly dating back to the medieval period,” she said. “Detectives are now liaising with English Heritage and the local authority to determine what happens next.
“There is unlikely to be any further police investigation or involvement after this.”
