THE husband and children of an Acton Trussell mum are raising cash for Katharine House Hospice in her memory. Adam Shaw, 46, and daughters Emma, 12, and Maddy, nine, are aiming to pull in £20,000 for the hospice, which looked after Sue Shaw. Mrs Shaw, 48, died in September last year after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She would have been 50 in February 2015 so her family has set themselves a challenge to raise the money for Katharine House, where she was treated. Last month they held a charity chest wax and dinner dance at the Barns in Cannock, which raised £6,051. The Barns donated the use of the venue for free and 80 people snapped up tickets for the event. Mr Shaw is now planning to do a sky dive next year, as well as organising a host of other events in the coming months. He said: “We are so grateful to the Barns for allowing us to use a room for free and for everyone who came along and helped us raise so much. “We’re now planning some other fund-raisers to help Katharine House as the care they gave to Sue was fantastic.”
